Intro to the baseline guidelines of BodyStack
Foundational Health SeriesWhen it comes to health, my two favorite words are balance and resiliency. I believe that our bodies are unique and there is no "one size fits all" approach to health habits. At my functional wellness coaching practice, Leddy Wellness, we embrace "metabolic individuality": the idea that every health journey is its own.
BodyStack
BodyStack is intended to classify and curate the vast number of products and services in the longevity industry. We organize them into 19 categories that, put simply, all play an important role in helping you optimize your health. As the human body is a complex organism, many of the categories overlap and are integrated in some capacity.
In the articles and pages below, we provide a set of themed 'foundational' recommendations that most individuals can benefit from. Based on the individual's biomarkers and circumstances, there are an infinite number of more advanced, personalized recommendations that these articles don't cover. But it's important to first focus on these baseline guidelines, based on extensive research uncovered by myself and the BodyStack team.

Balance & Resiliency
When I refer to "balance," I'm referring to homeostasis in the human body. Each day, there are tens of thousands of biochemical reactions in human metabolism, whereby no biochemical reaction occurs independently. These reactions are indeed interconnected throughout the entire body. All biochemical reactions are regulated by Fundamental Homeostatic Control mechanisms (FHCs).
One good example is cortisol. It's important to ensure that we don't have too little or too much. Sometimes, what's more important than knowing the entire amount of cortisol, is knowing its volume as it relates to Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). How the two are balanced play a critical role in your hormone health. It can get very technical, but achieving homeostatic balance leads to resiliency against stressors and disease.
The end goal is to improve your metabolic health and become more resilient, because resilience leads to improved healthspan and lifespan ("longevity"). Whether you're low or high on the longevity education curve, adopting these recommendations will bring you closer to optimal balance and resiliency.
